interview

Chris Littledale is the Museum Director & Founder of the Brighton Toy Museum. He founded the museum in 1990, after a lifetime love of restoring and making toys, resulting in a grand collection. Dedicated friends and fellow collectors / model makers also helped found the museum.

The museum holds over 10,000 exhibits, collections from the past 100 years, examples from the world's top toy makers and models and souvenirs to buy. We asked a few quick questions...

What do you enjoy about Brighton?
Lots of pubs and there’s a pretty cosmopolitan atmosphere.

If you could change it what would you do?

Introduce more clubs for older people - so you can dance and drink until late and at the same time, have intelligent conversation.

How has Brighton changed since you moved here?
I came here in 1967 and it’s defintely changed since then. It’s a much more continental place with cafes and tables outside. So that’s good. It’s sad though, that we’ve allowed the world’s finest pier to deteriorate.

Devise your ideal day.
Meeting a nice lady, going for a meal, going to the pub. Then a stroll down to the seafront, swim in the sea which I do every year...lie on the beach.
